Romania - code Orange for floods

Rains did not stop this weekend in Romania and the codes are expanding for the next days.

National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management updated code orange and code yellow warnings previously issued for rivers Bega, Timis Barzava, Moravia, Caras, Nera, Cerna, Drincea, Jiu, Olt some tributaries of the lower Mures, Arges county; Buzau, where there will be increases in flows and levels, exceeding the quota of flood and spills on the slopes, streams and creeks, which could cause flooding. Hydrologists have extended the code orange for floods until Monday at 18:00.

22 counties are under code yellow for rain, and other 16 are at risk of flooding.

There will be rains, strong wind and lightning in most of the country. The weather seems to continue this way, making it impossible for any agricultural activities to take place in the mentioned areas.

Dozens of homes and farmlands around the country were affected by heavy rains. Rivers have overflowed and flooded yards and homes taken aback by the floods.

Even the capital of the country was affected by heavy rains and hail. Several streets, passages and houses in Bucharest were flooded and some areas were covered by a layer of about three inches of hail from the rainfall that occurred Sunday evening.
